Water Resources Institute

The Water Resources Institute (WRI) is a response to the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) reforms that pointed out the need to address issues of increasing pollution, growing population, climate variability, and reduction in water availability and balancing water needs for agriculture, energy, industry and households in the country. Particularly, the Water Resources Management reform study (2003 to 2005)

The Water Resources Institute is needed to provide space for engagement, sector development and strategic management.

Multi-stakeholder processes that involve bringing together individuals and institutions from diverse disciplines and programs, enabling them to work together to find solutions.

Applied Reseach

It is executed through practical problem-solving processes that apply innovation to address existing challenges in water resources and the environment faced by the country.

Outreach

WRI is enhancing collaboration with various organizations and stakeholders, to facilitate the exchange of expertise, new ideas, and innovations in addressing water and environmental challenges.

Applied Training

WRI Supports a systematic continuous professional development for career growth; offer courses for officers joining the Water and Environment fraternity in the country and lifelong learning opportunities.

UWEWK2024

Uganda Water and Environment Week (UWEWK)

UWEWK2024 will give special focus to the outcomes and recommendations of UWEWK2023, and those related key water, environment and climate change related events held since UWEWK2023.
