The Uganda Water and Environment Weeks (UWEWK) have been instrumental in increasing the sharing of experiences, introducing new concepts, and fostering innovations related to water and environmental issues. These events aim to create strong linkages between various organizations, institutions, and specific groups, facilitating collaborative efforts to address sector challenges.

UWEWK provides a valuable space and time for engagement between various stakeholders in the water and environment sectors. The event’s design emphasizes methods for effective communication and engagement with diverse user groups, ensuring that the information reaches and resonates with all relevant audiences.

Since the inception of WRI in 2018, 7 Uganda Water and Environment Weeks have been held, attracting a total of 9,986 participants at the national and international levels. The event’s outreach has also extended to the regional level, involving a broader number of participants through various activities organized by the 6 MWE regions.

Additionally, several outreach activities were organized under the UWEWK framework, engaging a larger number of participants across the six Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) regional levels. These activities included awareness campaigns, clean-up exercises, marathons, debates, symposiums, football matches, tree planting, and environmental restoration efforts, all aimed at raising awareness and fostering community involvement in environmental conservation.
